Starting at the airport if you are renting a car, make sure you mark or highlight the following cities on the map. Remember that in Costa Rica, unfortunately we don't really use "Route Numbers" or "Street Names"

International Airport Juan Santamaria.
San Ramon (Route 1)
Esparza (Route 1)
Limonal (Here you will find a Shell Gas station, and a sign to turn left towards "Puente de la Amistad" ("Amistad" Bridge) and you turn left then towards Route 18)
Puente la Amistad (There is parking available here and sometimes you can see crocodiles in the river)
Pueblo Viejo (Then make a right towards Nicoya)
Nicoya
Santa Cruz (Make sure you get a full tank of gas here. This town is about 30 Kilometers away from the Hacienda and its one of the closest gas stations in the area)
Tamarindo (Actually, you will arrive at Hacienda before getting to Tamarindo)

The signs will guide you, and once you get to Santa Cruz there will be paved roads until you reach a town called "Veintisiete de Abril" (April 27). After this town the road will be unpaved until you hit Hacienda. It is about 12 Kilometers of unpaved road. Please make sure you drive slowly in this area.

Also if you need to do some shopping there are plenty of new supermarkets in Tamarindo (Around 15 minutes away from the Hacienda).
